As summer draws to a close here in London, Tribe aims to keep up its impressive 2010 release schedule and its quest to showcase some of the freshest House music from around the world...... both undiscovered talent and some more established names aswell. First up this month we've got a killer EP from an exciting new partnership, Beven Godden and Arnaud D. Beven from Natal, South Africa bringing the afro vibes and Arnaud from Lyon in France bringing his deep flavour to proceedings, who have come together to deliver two rocking tracks with remixes from Tribe's very own Zepherin Saint and Manoo who's back following his awesome remix for us on Sister Pearl last year.
Arnaud D has been making some serious noise for the last year with a string of very strong releases on top labels such as Seasons Limited and Realtone Records in the last twelve months.
Up to last year, Beven had been producing hip hop working with various local musicians in his home town but had always been a big fan of soulful house music and decided to contact Arnaud about working on a collaboration and after only a few months, Ntobenthle and Muzik Wa Afrika were born.
Ntobenthle is a deep percussive driving cut that slowly builds into a crescendo, then enters centre stage the amazing chanting vocals of 'Mse' from Cazi Connection that will grab the crowds attention instantly. The song is an Xhosa song from the rural eastern Cape area in South Africa and comes with remixes of Zepherin Saint and Manoo.
Manoo's mix of the track takes the vibe on a new journey, using the vocal superbly creating a hypnotic groove with its infectious base line and amazing synth solo that leads of this floor filler.
Similarly, Zepherin Saint's remix shows his diversity as he creates a sound clash between dub horns, tech beats and hi life guitars. Fusing these elements, Zepherin's mix is most definitely a big room peak time player!
Musik Wa Afrika exemplifies the authentic 'ancestral soul' song, which is now a very big part of dance music today. Arnaud has created some heavy beats and deep dark synths, which build a great intensity that you just get lost in. The song is a spoken word track featuring Lucky Shinta aka Dr Mystic Cha who speaks about the spirituality of Africa.
